Expert Review

The Samsung G5 Odyssey is an aggressive 1000R curved gaming monitor that delivers immersive gameplay at an affordable price point. The 27-inch VA panel provides 2560x1440 resolution with 144Hz refresh rate, creating smooth motion in fast-paced games. The extreme 1000R curvature wraps deeply around your vision, enhancing immersion particularly in racing sims and first-person games. FreeSync Premium certification ensures tear-free gaming with low framerate compensation support. HDR10 support enhances contrast though peak brightness around 250 nits limits HDR impact. The VA panel delivers deep blacks with 2500:1 contrast ratio, creating excellent dark scene detail. Response time is decent at 1ms MPRT with minimal ghosting using appropriate overdrive settings. Colors are vibrant covering 95% sRGB, though accuracy requires calibration. The matte anti-glare coating effectively reduces reflections. Build quality is solid with sturdy V-shaped stand offering tilt and height adjustment. The Red accent lighting on the back adds gaming flair. Eye Saver Mode reduces blue light emission for extended sessions. Picture-by-Picture allows simultaneous inputs from two sources. Some backlight bleed is present typical of edge-lit panels. The OSD navigation could be more intuitive. For budget-conscious gamers wanting curved immersion and high refresh rate without premium pricing, the G5 Odyssey delivers strong value with Samsung reliability.
